NASCAR Brazil: Casagrande wins Race 2 after thrilling battle in Londrina

Gabriel Casagrande started a victory in Race 2 of the sixth stage of NASCAR Brazil, held on the afternoon of this Sunday (23), at the Ayrton Senna International Circuit, in Londrina (PR). In an electrifying battle until the last lap, the driver regained the lead in the final meters and held off the pressure from Thiago Camilo to cross the finish line first. Camilo finished second, while Arthur Gama completed the podium.

Cacá Bueno started on pole with Jorge Martelli alongside, but managed to keep the lead. There were no major incidents in the first corners.

However, at the end of the first lap, Martelli ended up hitting the track wall and the safety car came out.

The restart had Bueno maintaining the position with Ibiapina right behind. Camilo and Casagrande were battling on the second row, with Casagrande in third. But soon Casagrande managed to overtake for second place.

With 18 minutes to go, Nicolas Costa went off track and caused another safety car.

The race was quickly resumed, with Ibiapina retaking second place from Casagrande. Thiago Camilo was in fourth position, while Murilo Rocha closed the top 5.

Ibiapina closed in on Bueno and managed to overtake with 13 minutes remaining in the race. But shortly after, Bueno regained the position.

The two faced off again two minutes later, but Ibiapina ended up losing ground to Casagrande, who returned to being the race’s runner-up.

The battle between Thiago Camilo and Arthur Gama for fifth place heated up, but the winner of Race 1 in Londrina came out on top.

Shortly after, Ibiapina lost position to Camilo and then to Gama.

With two minutes to go, the top 5 were practically glued on the track.

Camilo went after Casagrande and managed to overtake for second place. Gama tried to go along, but Casagrande defended.

On the last lap, Casagrande took advantage of the boost and moved to first position, with Camilo right behind. Arthur Gama finished in third place. Murilo Rocha won in the Challenge, with Ibiapina in second and Tito Giaffone in third.
