Williams ended the day of activities at the Spanish Grand Prix of Formula 1 with quite similar evaluations among the drivers. While Carlos Sainz pointed out a calm day on Friday (11), Alexander Albon saw a challenging day.

The Spaniard is racing in front of the home crowd this weekend and after the two free practice sessions, finished in 16th place. The Spaniard spoke about the characteristics of the track but lamented the lack of competitiveness of Williams.
“Friday completed in Madrid! We had a relatively calm day, no problems or incidents; just two good sessions in which we could try different setups. The track is spectacular. It’s one of those layouts that excites you when you’re in the car; the feeling is very intense, to say the least, but I’m really enjoying it. Unfortunately, we don’t seem competitive on this circuit, but we will do our best to have a solid weekend and see what we can achieve,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Anglo-Thai driver pointed out the challenges he faced with Madring and acknowledged that he was unable to extract the maximum from his car, betting on needing a good strategy for the race.
“It was a challenging day; there are corners with very varied styles, which demanded a lot from the tires. I also had difficulties with power delivery, as the feeling changed a lot from one lap to another; therefore, I felt I never managed to find a consistent rhythm with the car. The correlation with the simulator was not far from reality, which is a positive point, but we still have a lot of work ahead as a team. I imagined it would be a weekend more focused on qualifying, but I believe that, with the extremely long pit lane, race pace and strategy will be factors we need to consider,” he said.
