Williams wants to maintain growth in Formula 1 and is already preparing a new update package for the Canadian GP. After presenting important updates in Miami and scoring points again, the British team confirmed that more performance is on the way in the upcoming races.

The team principal, James Vowles, stated that the Grove structure continues to work intensely on the car’s development. According to him, the period between Miami and Montreal will be crucial to maximize the planned novelties for the rest of the season.
Williams brought to Miami a package considered significant after the five-week break in the calendar. Among the changes were a new floor, bodywork revisions, modifications to the front wing, changes to the rear suspension, development in the exhaust system, and also a reduction in the car’s weight.
These updates represented an important relief for the team, which started the 2026 season at a disadvantage compared to direct competitors. Now, Vowles believes there is still significant room for evolution before the Canadian round: “We have more performance coming for Montreal,” said the manager on the Vowles Verdict program. “It’s a somewhat unusual situation because we have these two or three weeks before the GP and we want to maximize this in the best possible way,” he said.

The Williams chief explained that there is still uncertainty about everything that can be delivered in time for Canada, but made it clear that the expectation is positive: “The development line is still somewhat open about what we will be able to deliver one hundred percent, but there could be a quite significant amount of performance.”
Despite the optimism, Vowles acknowledged that competitors should also evolve in the same period: “The reality is that other teams, like Mercedes, Audi, and maybe Haas, should also bring performance at the same time. The question is whether what we are bringing will be enough to maintain position against these teams,” he added.
At the moment Williams occupies eighth position in the constructors’ championship with five points scored, just nine behind Racing Bulls. According to Vowles, besides aerodynamic improvements, the team is also working on reducing the car’s weight, which started the season above ideal: “I am happy with what we have in the development line, both in weight reduction and in aerodynamic and vehicle dynamics evolutions. But it is still difficult to know exactly where this will place us,” he concluded.
