Williams faced a very difficult Hungarian GP before the Formula 1 summer break. This Sunday (26), Alexander Albon and Carlos Sainz finished quite far from the points zone.

The Anglo-Thai driver started from 19th position and managed to extend his stint during the race, but in the end, he crossed the finish line only in 17th position. “This was a difficult weekend for us; it was a real battle on track. We knew the layout wouldn’t favor us and would expose our weaknesses. We had balance issues all weekend and were heavily affected by the wind today, suffering from understeer and a lack of consistency,” he said.
“I had difficulty finding a rhythm due to changes in wind direction and gusts. We know what we need to fix, and I believe the work being done at the factory represents the biggest collective effort from the team I’ve ever seen to combat these issues. I believe we are taking the right steps to get back on track; it’s just a shame to be in this situation. I hope we can rest well as a team and come back stronger after the summer break,” he continued.
Meanwhile, the Spaniard started 19th, got involved in a tangle with Oscar Piastri during the race, and received the checkered flag only in 18th, ahead only of Oliver Bearman. “I was having a good race today, fighting for positions with the Haas cars, which had been half a second faster yesterday.”

“I had problems throughout the race receiving information about blue flags, and during my battle with Fernando [Alonso], Oscar appeared in my blind spot and, unfortunately, there was a touch. The subsequent penalty and the double pit stop during the VSC caused me to lose some positions in the final laps, but, overall, there wasn’t much more to achieve,” he noted.
“Taking stock of this first half of the season, I am satisfied with the consistency and pace I can extract from the car every weekend, despite our difficulties; ultimately, we have a lot of work ahead for the second half of the year. The most important thing is to continue moving forward together, as a team, in the way we are doing. We will recharge our energies during the summer break and come back stronger,” he concluded.
