Luke Browning will have another opportunity to drive a Formula 1 car with Williams. The Briton will replace Alex Albon in FP1 of the Italian GP, in Monza.

This participation will mark the sixth time Browning has taken part in an FP1 session with the British team and the second this current season. Williams needs to complete its second mandatory session with a rookie driver in the championship, within the requirement of four participations per season, two for each car.
Browning’s first experience with the FW48 under the current technical regulations took place at the Austrian GP. On that occasion, he completed 29 laps with Carlos Sainz’s car and finished FP1 in 18th position. Before that, he was scheduled to participate in the session in Barcelona, but car problems prevented him from leaving the pits.
This time, the 24-year-old driver will take over Alex Albon’s FW48 at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza. Browning also competes full-time in the Japanese Super Formula for Team Kondo Racing and holds the role of reserve driver at Williams.

In addition to gaining mileage in the car, Browning will use this work in Monza to collect information for the development of his activity in the team’s simulator in Grove: “It’s a great opportunity to get important laps in the FW48, while expanding my understanding of the car and helping to bring useful data and feedback back to Grove,” he stated.
The Briton, who finished last year’s Formula 2 championship in fourth position, also highlighted the objective for the weekend in Italy: “Each session teaches something new, and I want to take advantage of everything I can from this experience to continue driving my development and that of the team,” Browning concluded.
