Another important move has taken place behind the scenes in Formula 1, with Williams announcing the signing of Dan Milner for a key role. The engineer, who built a two-decade career linked to Mercedes, will take on the role of head of vehicle technology engineering.

Milner’s arrival is part of Williams’ plan to strengthen its technical structure and accelerate car development. The professional arrives after twenty years of association with the Brackley base, including fourteen seasons directly with Mercedes.
Speaking about this change, Milner highlighted his enthusiasm for the new challenge: “I am very excited to join Williams as head of vehicle technology engineering. After twenty years of association with Brackley, it is the right time to take on a new challenge,” he said.
The new hire also highlighted the British team’s plans and his motivation to contribute to growth: “Williams has a clear and ambitious plan to move forward, and I look forward to bringing my experience and knowledge to help accelerate this journey. I can’t wait to meet the team, understand the organization and start working on turning ideas into performance on the track,” he said.

Milner built his career progressively within the category. He began his career as a systems engineer at Honda and, before the formation of Mercedes, served as a research and development engineer at Brawn GP (the team that became Mercedes), during the victorious 2009 season, which resulted in the drivers’ and constructors’ titles.
Williams technical director Matt Harman highlighted the importance of the signing for the team’s future: “Dan brings broad experience and clear leadership. He has led major programs in research and development and power units, turning ideas into performance, as well as knowing how to bring teams together to deliver results,” he said.
Harman also highlighted the strategic role of the new head of engineering: “Dan will be central to our vehicle technology plan and the transformation of innovation into consistent performance gains on the track. We are excited to have him with us as we continue our plan to bring Williams back to the front of the grid,” he added.
