Formula 1 will have new adjustments to the regulations starting from the Miami GP, and Williams boss James Vowles positively evaluated the changes announced by the FIA. According to him, the alterations are sensible and can help reduce the concerns raised in the first races.

These modifications are part of the package related to the 2026 rules, which had been widely debated since the beginning of the season. With the confirmation of the changes before the Miami GP, the expectation is that the adjustments will reduce criticism and bring improvements already in the next stages.
The FIA announced interventions in areas considered sensitive, including qualifying sessions, identified as one of the weakest points so far. Furthermore, the changes also aim to improve safety in races, especially to reduce excessive speed differences between cars.
Another point of attention involves starts, after problems recorded with Franco Colapinto from Alpine, in the Australian round. The changes aim to prevent similar situations and make the start of races more predictable and safer.
Vowles highlighted that the joint work between teams, the FIA, and Formula 1 itself was important to reach a consensus: “These are sensible changes and the teams, the FIA, and Formula 1 have done a good job in recent weeks to reach an agreement,” stated the executive.

The Williams boss also highlighted that the season has already presented competitive races, but argued that the category must continue to evolve. For him, the pursuit of constant improvements is essential to maintain the championship’s level.
“Formula 1 has had some excellent races so far this year, but it is right that we always look for ways to continue evolving. We look forward to seeing them in practice starting from Miami,” concluded Vowles.
With the confirmed changes, the expectation now is to observe the practical impact of the new measures already at the Miami GP. The reaction of the teams and drivers after implementation will be decisive in evaluating whether the changes will be able to reduce initial concerns with the 2026 rules.
