Max Verstappen critically evaluated his performance in the Sprint qualifying for the Formula 1 Chinese GP, after finishing only in eighth position.

The Red Bull Racing driver stated that the car’s pace was not competitive throughout Friday, highlighting grip issues and a lack of balance as the main obstacles faced by the team: “Throughout the day we didn’t have good pace. We had little grip, which has been our biggest problem, and unfortunately, balance was also lacking,” Verstappen stated.
According to the Dutchman, these difficulties end up affecting the car’s overall performance throughout the lap, especially in the corners: “We are losing a lot of time in the corners and that ends up triggering other small problems,” he added.

Verstappen highlighted that the car’s main limitation at this moment is precisely its behavior in corner sections, something the team intends to analyze before the next sessions: “The big problem for us is the performance in the corners. We will need to analyze what we can do before tomorrow, understand our main limitations and then we will see how we can move forward,” the Dutch driver concluded.
