Max Verstappen’s chance to compete again in the 24 Hours of Nürburgring in 2027 increased after the organizers confirmed the 55th edition of the race will take place on the last weekend of May. So far, Formula 1 has no race scheduled between May 27 and 30, which could open the door for Verstappen Racing’s return to the traditional challenge in the Green Hell.

This year, Verstappen shared the car with Dani Juncadella, Jules Gounon, and Lucas Auer. The quartet started from fourth position and quickly took the lead of the race. The Dutchman even completed a double stint during the night before handing the car over to Gounon, while Auer was responsible for the morning period.
The plan was for Verstappen to return to the wheel in the final stretch, but with three hours to go, the team had to bring the car to the pits after a problem with the drive shaft. Despite the possibility of returning to the track in the final laps, the fight for victory was over.
According to Dani Juncadella, the team’s meeting for 2027 will depend mainly on Verstappen’s Formula 1 schedule. “Everything has to align again,” he told GPblog.

The presence of the three-time world champion helped boost the event’s attendance. The 24 Hours of Nürburgring had recorded 280,000 visitors in 2025, but the number rose to 352,000 spectators last weekend.
Mercedes-AMG also expressed satisfaction with the long-term partnership with Verstappen Racing. “Those 24 hours really felt much longer than that,” said Sagemüller, head of Mercedes-AMG Motorsport, to GPblog.
Despite the positive scenario, the final Formula 1 calendar for the period has not yet been officially confirmed.
