During the press conference on Friday (4), during the 2026 Italian GP program, Frederic Vasseur responded to Toto Wolff’s comments about the financial capacity of Formula 1 teams to bring updates to the cars. The Ferrari boss stated that the Mercedes executive does not have enough knowledge to talk about the Italian team’s budget.

After the Dutch GP, Wolff said that Mercedes “does not have money to put developments on the car.” The team principal explained that investments are distributed throughout the season according to internal calculations, but the team cannot spend beyond its limits.
Asked about Ferrari and McLaren managing to bring more updates, Wolff said: “Well, you will see at the end of the season if they manage to put as many things on the car as they are putting now. Someone may have a different strategy, spending more at the beginning and middle of the year than at the end.”
Vasseur replied: “Yes, I don’t want to comment on Toto’s budget difference. I don’t like it when someone talks about my budget without having any idea.”

He also assured that Ferrari will maintain the development pace until the end of the championship. “But what I know is that we will continue to develop until the last race at the same pace. We will have a margin with the cost cap.”
Ferrari brought updates to the Italian GP in search of a home victory. The team led the first practice of the day with Charles Leclerc and is considered the favorite for pole position.
