Lewis Hamilton’s strong performance at the Canadian Formula 1 GP did not change Guenther Steiner’s view on the internal battle at Ferrari. For the former Haas boss, Charles Leclerc remains the strongest driver on the team, despite the seven-time champion’s great showing in Montreal.

After five rounds, the battle between the two Ferrari drivers remains balanced. Leclerc has 75 points in the championship, just three more than Hamilton, who has 72. Both have already achieved two podiums this season.
Hamilton stood out in Canada by finishing second after overtaking Max Verstappen in the final laps. Leclerc, on the other hand, had a difficult weekend and crossed the finish line only in fourth place. Speaking on the Red Flags podcast, Steiner praised the Briton’s performance and joked about his absence from the simulator before the Canadian round.

“Lewis had a good race. He didn’t go to the simulator. It’s all because of that. He will never go back there. Soon he will be winning races,” Steiner said in a relaxed tone. Despite this, the Italian-American highlighted that Leclerc’s below-expected result was something unusual for the Monegasque.
“Charles had a miserable weekend for the first time. He said so himself. I think he said it was his worst race ever. But he will get out of this and will be the Charles from before again. Lewis had a good race, but we can’t conclude now that Charles will be behind him,” he concluded.
