The organization of the GP to be held in Sepang to replace the Bahrain GP clarified a misunderstanding about the Formula 1 race time. After the official category app indicated that the race would take place at night, the CEO of the Sepang International Circuit, Azhan Shafriman Hanif, confirmed that the race will take place in the afternoon.

The confusion started after the Formula 1 app displayed the race time between 8 pm and 10 pm local time. The information drew attention because Sepang has never hosted a night race and does not have the permanent lighting infrastructure required for this type of event, unlike circuits such as Singapore, Bahrain, Jeddah, Lusail, and Yas Marina.
According to information from GPblog, the times displayed in the app were the result of an error. In a statement to the Bernama agency, Hanif ended the doubts on the subject.

“The race will be held in the afternoon, not at night,” said the official.
The Sepang round will replace the Bahrain GP, originally scheduled for April but postponed due to the conflict in the Middle East. Subsequently, Formula 1 confirmed that the race would be held in Malaysia, keeping the original name of the round.
The event will mark Malaysia’s return to the category’s calendar for the first time since 2017. The Sepang International Circuit hosted Formula 1 races continuously between 1999 and 2017, before leaving the calendar starting from the 2018 season.
