Carlos Sainz was quite unhappy with Max Verstappen’s overtaking during the Miami Grand Prix of Formula 1 and explained the reason for his very nervous radio message.

After a pit-stop during the safety car, the Dutchman was at the back of the pack with a new set of hard tires. The four-time world champion had to overtake driver by driver and when it was the Spanish driver’s turn, he made an aggressive move. At that point, the Williams driver said on the radio “he pushed me off. He thinks he can do whatever he wants because he’s fighting in the midfield.”
Later, Sainz explained his message. “Yes, no disrespect intended, but what we did at turn 17 was almost like a launch, knowing that, since we were in the middle of the pack, we wouldn’t fight with him and would have to let him pass at some point,” he said.
