The category’s new set of rules has been the target of several negative comments. Names like Max Verstappen and Lando Norris have been quite critical, and after Oliver Bearman’s accident in Japan, the FIA made specific adjustments for this weekend’s Miami GP.
However, the Briton pointed out how he is enjoying the new Formula 1 car, but noted that some small adjustments could be made to optimize the rules. “I definitely don’t share that opinion,” he said.

“Personally, I’m really enjoying the car. The power unit and engine are definitely different. And they just need some adjustments to really optimize them. But this has given us the opportunity for more battles and races with many twists and turns,” he told the BBC.
“Anyone who thinks drivers are going slow in corners to be faster on the straights is wrong. There are some small peculiarities that the FIA has done its best to eradicate. These are details that are a bit complicated and, honestly, fans don’t need to understand. From this race, with these small changes the sport is making, our lives will be easier. We will be at full speed on the straights in a qualifying lap and won’t need to lift off the throttle to manage energy,” he concluded.
