George Russell revealed more details about the marriage proposal to his long-time partner Carmen Mundt. The Mercedes Formula 1 driver also commented on whether the couple plans to have children in the near future.

During the summer break of the category, the drivers took the opportunity to travel and rest alongside family and friends. Meanwhile, the Brit used the period to propose to his now fiancée.

“It was very special. It was a very good moment to do it, and there was a lot of planning behind it. It was a really interesting process, kind of designing the ring and taking care of all that. And I thought: ‘Will I be able to say the words at the right moment?’. Suddenly, I got quite nervous when I knelt down, but no, it was great,” he said in Zandvoort.

Russell also joked and said, “I hope this brings a few tenths. Even Lando [Norris] will end up proposing if this brings a few tenths.”

“Personal life is very important. I think we all lead very busy lives. The people we share this life with, and who experience these emotions alongside us, play a fundamental role in that. Obviously, I have been with Carmen for a long time, so I don’t think things change drastically, since she has been such an important person in my life for so long. It was just about taking that next step we needed to take,” he said.
Then, when asked if the couple plans to have children, George ruled out it happening soon. “I don’t think so anytime soon. At least not that I know of, but at some point in the future, definitely.”
