Tom McCullough will leave Aston Martin to strengthen Red Bull Racing. The engineer’s hiring was confirmed by GPblog, which found that he will have an important role in the structure of Max Verstappen and Isack Hadjar’s team.

The arrival comes as Red Bull works to strengthen its internal organization. In addition to focusing on Verstappen’s future and the development of the RB22, the team had already announced Gwen Lagrue as the new head of the young drivers program.
McCullough is expected to take on part of the responsibilities currently held by Gianpiero Lambiase. In addition to being Verstappen’s race engineer, Lambiase also leads the race engineering department during GP weekends, a role that should pass to McCullough, while the current Red Bull member will move to McLaren after the end of the season.
The engineer has an extensive career in Formula 1. Before spending more than a decade at Force India, Racing Point, and Aston Martin, McCullough worked at Williams and Sauber, accumulating different roles and becoming one of the key figures of the Silverstone team.

Since last year, he has held the position of performance director at Aston Martin Performance Technologies, in a broader role beyond the Formula 1 project. Although the hiring by Red Bull is confirmed, it has not yet been decided if McCullough will officially have the title of ‘Head of Racing’.
The arrival also gains relevance amid uncertainties about Verstappen’s future. The four-time world champion has not yet announced if he will remain at Red Bull in 2027, but according to some assessments, McCullough’s hiring makes the prospect of the Dutchman’s continuation with the team more attractive.
