After the two sessions held at Spa-Francorchamps, the Briton ended up ninth on the timesheet with a total of 44 laps, setting 1min47s294. “Overall, it was a good first day here at Spa. Once again, the team delivered us a car with a solid base, which allowed us to start the weekend well,” he said.
“There are still some points we will need to analyze overnight, but the performance was encouraging. The main focus will be to extract a bit more performance with the soft tires, as I couldn’t improve as much as I wanted today. There are also some uncertainties for Sunday, especially regarding race simulations, as we only managed to complete a few laps in FP1 and almost none in FP2. We have a competitive package and, if we manage to get everything right, we should fight for Q3 and points for the rest of the weekend,” he continued.

Meanwhile, the New Zealander was just behind in tenth position, completing 40 laps and only 0.04 seconds slower than his teammate. “We had a good Friday, with both cars in the top ten. Spa seems quite different this year compared to previous seasons;” he noted.
“Therefore, we focused on optimizing the car and understanding the best way to manage the battery and power delivery. We will work on that overnight and hope to come back stronger tomorrow. The car has shown good performance so far, so the focus now is to make fine adjustments and make the most of the package we have,” he concluded.
