The final stretch of preparation for Madring to host the Spanish Grand Prix of Formula 1 for the first time was marked by an incident that mobilized the police. According to information from the Spanish publication ABC, about 300 meters of cables were stolen from the new street circuit on Sunday morning (30).

The case led to the opening of an investigation by the National Police Corps, as reported by the outlet. So far, there is no confirmation of arrests related to the alleged theft.


The incident occurs just two weeks before the F1 debut on the circuit built around the IFEMA Exhibition Center in Madrid. Madring will replace the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya as the venue for the Spanish Grand Prix, in a change that will mark the category’s first visit to the new layout.
Before the arrival of Formula 1, Madring recently hosted the stars of Formula 3 for a two-day test during the season. The activity was marked by 19 red flags.

Ferrari was the first Formula 1 team to get to know Madring. Last month, Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc participated in a day of filming at the circuit.

The circuit’s debut in 2026 will also feature Formula 2, which will also be in action in a schedule considered full for its first event at Madring.
