Oscar Piastri is satisfied with the step forward taken by McLaren in the Formula 1 season. The Australian finished in third place at the Miami GP this Sunday (3).

The competitor started only from seventh place in the race in Florida after a complicated qualifying on Saturday. However, in a recovery race, he still took advantage of a mistake by Charles Leclerc at the end to secure the lowest step on the podium.
Therefore, Piastri felt encouraged about how he felt with McLaren’s performance in Miami. “It wasn’t the smoothest weekend, qualifying was a bit messy, but the pace today seemed more encouraging,” he reflected.

“I had to make some overtakes and, obviously, the end of the race was a very late reaction, but it’s very complicated to race here, especially in these conditions. Clearly, we are one step closer in terms of performance, so it’s good to see that, and we showed that if we get track position, we can hold the result,” he continued.
“We were close in Japan, but we are definitely taking a step forward, and I hope that in Canada we can advance again. I’m excited for the future,” he concluded.
