“I’m getting a little older and want to be able to go out, that doesn’t mean going out to party; it just means having dinner out and leaving the house. Last year, I was just playing video games and felt like a loser for being at home. Not that that’s a bad thing. I kept to myself and was disciplined,” he said.

“But now, instead of playing until midnight, I go out with my friends for dinner until that time. I’ve always liked doing that, but now these activities appear more on social media and there are more cameras around. It’s about experiencing life outside the world of Formula 1, something I have the right to do,” he explained.

Lando went on to say that he understands being a public figure as a Formula 1 driver, but emphasized that there are acceptable limits. “The next level is having paparazzi waiting for you in certain places or following you. I drove to a friend’s house in London and realized a paparazzi was following me the entire way. He followed me around London for 40 minutes, just waiting to see who I was going to meet and where I was going,” he pointed out.

“It was the first time I felt a bit more invaded in life, the feeling of not being able to leave the hotel or home without someone trying to track my every move. It doesn’t seem like private life is really private; now, it’s all just ‘public life.’ That’s part of being a Formula 1 driver, but there are limits, and I don’t accept being followed. It’s just something strange,” he concluded.
