The 2025 champion renewed his contract with the British team, now extending the agreement until 2030 – following in the footsteps of Max Verstappen, who also stays with Red Bull until 2030.
Talking about continuing on the grid until his 40s defending McLaren, the Brit questioned the longevity of his years in F1 but emphasized loyalty to the team. “Ah, I don’t know if I want to reach 40. It’s already a big challenge to reach 30, so we’ll see. I don’t know what the future holds,” he explained to Sky Sports.
“I certainly want to believe in what the future holds, and I continue to believe that we can win more as a team and achieve more constructors’ and drivers’ titles; that’s why I want to stay here,” he continued.

“But this is also the only team I have ever competed for; it’s the team I love, and I consider this place my home. So, if I end up doing my entire career at McLaren, it will be something I will be very proud to talk about and carry with me for the rest of my life.”
“I don’t know how far I want to go as a driver, if I want to reach 30, 40, or 50 years old. I still don’t know that. So, I’m very, very happy to announce that I will be here for another four years and, hopefully, another four years fighting for wins and championships,” he concluded.
