Lando Norris will return to the wheel of McLaren’s Hypercar this Monday (14), in Portimão, Portugal. The Briton, current Formula 1 world champion, will test the MCL-HY at the Algarve International Circuit as part of the team’s work to prepare the car that will compete in the World Endurance Championship (WEC) starting in 2027.

This will be the second time Norris drives the new prototype this year. The previous experience took place at the beginning of 2026, and the driver also had contact with the car during the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Now, McLaren will again have the champion’s feedback to advance the project’s development.

Norris does not hide his interest in competing at Le Mans in the future. Earlier this year, when commenting on the possibility of racing for McLaren, the Briton left the door open for participation in the traditional French race: “You know, I still feel like I want to try other things. Doing Le Mans, now McLaren is doing Le Mans, so maybe doing that at some point,” he said.

The driver’s relationship with endurance races, however, is not new. In 2018, he competed in the 24 Hours of Daytona with an LMP2 car from United Autosports, a team owned by Zak Brown. On that occasion, Norris shared the car with Fernando Alonso and Philip Hanson.
