Lando Norris gave a ‘radical’ suggestion for the 2026 Formula 1 season regulations. The McLaren driver stated that the only way to solve the situation is ‘getting rid of the battery’.

Drivers have been vocal about their dissatisfaction with the new set of rules starting this year. The main criticism is the engine that splits 50% into electric power and 50% internal combustion.
Modifications were introduced at the Miami GP, but Norris was not convinced of the effect. “It’s a small step in the right direction, but it’s still not at the level that Formula 1 should be,” he said.

“I think we said yesterday that even in qualifying, if you push to the maximum all the time and try to force it like in previous years, you will still be penalized for it. You still can’t push to the maximum all the time. It’s not about pushing from the start and in every corner,” he continued.
“You should never be penalized for that kind of thing, and you still are. Honestly, I don’t think it’s possible to fix this. You just have to get rid of the battery. So, I hope that in a few years that will be the case,” he concluded.
