Rivalry in Formula 1 took a back seat when Lando Norris surprised by declaring support for Max Verstappen in a challenge outside the category, showing respect for the opponent.

The McLaren driver stated that he intends to follow the performance of the four-time F1 world champion in the 24 Hours of Nurburgring, one of the most traditional motorsport races. Verstappen’s participation has attracted growing attention, especially after his preparatory races throughout the year.
“I have watched all the GT races that Max has done,” said Norris. “It’s good to have my own view of the circuit, and I think he really lives up to everything they say.” The Briton also highlighted the risks of the iconic Nurburgring-Nordschleife circuit, which is over 20 km long, recalling a recent fatal accident: “It’s a difficult and dangerous circuit, but that can happen anywhere. It’s sad for all motorsport,” he said.

Even so, Norris reinforced the prestige of the race and his admiration for the Red Bull Racing driver: “It’s still one of the best races in the world. I will watch, maybe not the full 24 hours, but as much as possible, and support Max,” he said. He also praised Verstappen’s recent performance alongside Chris Hasse.
Additionally, Norris recently had his own experience on the Nordschleife layout during Pirelli tire tests with McLaren. The Briton described the opportunity as the most fun moment of his season so far: “It was the most fun thing I’ve done this year. It’s a unique track that every driver wants to drive, and I finally got to do it,” he added.
