Lando Norris believes he has reached a higher level than he showed in his title season in 2025. After winning the last two GPs, the McLaren driver says he is eliminating weaknesses both on the track and in the work done with the team.

The current Formula 1 champion signed a contract renewal last week to remain at McLaren until the end of 2030, and is reaching an important moment in the current season with wins in Hungary and the Netherlands. The streak reduced his deficit to Kimi Antonelli, the championship leader, to 83 points, while the Italian believes that McLaren now has the fastest car on the grid.
Norris acknowledged that his 2025 season had an uneven first half, marked by mistakes in qualifying sessions, including a crash in Saudi Arabia. In the second part of the season, however, the Briton reacted, surpassed Oscar Piastri in the internal team battle, and resisted the approach of Max Verstappen.
Even with that performance, Norris understands that he has evolved since then: “I was driving at a high level in the second half of last year and it’s hard to say, but I believe yes, I am better now than in 2025,” the Briton told the press.

The driver also highlighted that the current car presents particular difficulties and that the biggest advances are not limited to driving: “I believe I can better understand situations, better understand the car. It is still horrible to drive, but I am doing a better job understanding that, conveying this information to my team, and figuring things out,” he added.
Norris continued, saying he has been working specifically to reduce his weaknesses and pointed to the Dutch GP as an example of the importance of this process: “It’s not just that I’m driving better on the track. Certainly, I am eliminating my weaknesses on the track, but it’s also how I work off it,” he concluded, highlighting that the work done between Saturday and Sunday in Zandvoort transformed McLaren’s performance in the race and paved the way for the victory.
