The rules for the 2026 Formula 1 season could undergo changes after just two races. The review with the teams and the FIA will take place right after this weekend’s Chinese GP.

The changes could come after two races on the calendar, with the matter being debated after the end of the round, featuring a Sprint, in Shanghai on March 15th.
The new regulations have received a series of criticisms from drivers, especially Max Verstappen and Lando Norris, with the pair even raising safety concerns.
After the tests in Bahrain, the sport’s governing body and the teams created a timeline to evaluate the situation before rushing into changes. And this is expected to happen after the next round.

“We had a meeting with the teams about ten days ago, after the tests in Bahrain, to analyze the issue. And the team’s unanimous position was that we should keep the current arrangements for the first races and analyze the issue when we have some more data,” explained Tombazis.
“And our intention is, after China, to analyze the energy management situation. We have some tricks up our sleeve, which we didn’t want to introduce before the first race as an impulsive reaction and which we will analyze with the teams after China,” he added.
