Netflix has confirmed the production of a documentary focused on Michael Schumacher’s 1994 season in Formula 1, with his wife Corinna being one of the names involved in the project.

‘Schumacher ’94 – The Birth of a Legend’ will be released worldwide on October 2, 2026, on the streaming platform. The production will recount the first of the seven championships won by the German in the category.
The documentary will be exclusively focused on the year 1994, when the seven-time champion was 25 years old and became a promising star by winning his first title with Benetton – the title came in the controversial final race in Adelaide, Australia.
The 1994 Formula 1 season was marked by the deaths of Roland Ratzenberger and Ayrton Senna at Imola, as well as Schumacher and Benetton being caught up in allegations regarding the legality of the car and its performance throughout the races.
During the production, Corinna will provide a personal perspective of the period, including the beginning of her relationship with Michael – they started dating that year and got married the following year.
Besides the German’s wife, other big names in the sport who will be present in the documentary are Flavio Briatore, former Benetton team principal, Bernie Ecclestone, David Coulthard, Willi Weber, Schumacher’s former manager, and TV personalities Kai Ebel and Heiko Waßer.
Also, the film will recall the beginning of ‘Schumi Mania’, which took hold in Germany.
The project is being produced by LEONINE Documentaries and will be released globally.
