Juan Pablo Montoya praised the new Madrid Formula 1 circuit, saying it was the first track of the season where he felt like driving.

After last week’s Italian GP, where Kimi Antonelli won after starting from the back of the pack, the drivers face the debut challenge in Madrid.
The track is 4.5km long, has 22 turns and La Monumental, 550m long with a 24% incline. Therefore, the Colombian is curious to know what it is like to drive on the track.
“I walked the track this morning and also drove through it in a passenger car a few weeks ago. I’ve seen it a few times. Unbelievable. Honestly, I usually walk the tracks frequently since my son races in Formula 2, we do this at every event, but this was the first time I thought: ‘Wow, I would like to drive here’,” he said.

“Of all the tracks we’ve visited this year, this is the first one where I thought: ‘It would be amazing’. I think the circuit map doesn’t do it justice, due to the elevation changes and blind spots,” he continued.
“Many of the corners follow the old style, with barriers both on the inside and outside, and they are blind corners. You take the corner and realize that whoever gets closest to the apex is also the one closest to the wall; I think this brings very interesting aspects, because when the apexes are wider, anyone can make them.”
“Anyone can take a wider line, varying a bit here or there, but if there is a barrier there, you need to be perfect. And I think that is exactly the level of commitment required. It’s amazing,” he concluded.
