Arvid Lindblad’s arrival in Formula 1 was never seen by him as a distant dream. The Racing Bulls driver stated that, since childhood, he always saw the category as his only destiny and never seriously considered following another path.

In an interview with Motorsport.com, the British-Swedish driver explained that this conviction shaped his trajectory from a very early age. According to him, the absolute focus on Formula 1 was decisive for his development, receiving support from his family, Oliver Rowland, and later, Helmut Marko, who was responsible for bringing him into the Red Bull Racing young driver program.
Lindblad, who turns nineteen next week and is the youngest driver on the current grid, recalled that Marko bet on his arrival in F1 as early as 2023. The prediction was confirmed when Racing Bulls announced his signing as a full-time driver for 2026. In the young driver’s view, the former Austrian consultant’s confidence was built not only on track performance but also on the mindset shown from their first meeting.
“I think a lot of it boiled down to my mindset. I joined the Red Bull young driver program at the end of 2020. I was twelve or thirteen years old when I met Helmut for the first time. My dad came with me, but practically the entire conversation happened between Helmut and me,” he said. Later, according to Lindblad, his father told him that Marko had been impressed by the clarity with which he described his goals.

The driver revealed that this determination existed even before joining the Red Bull program: “For me, there was only Formula 1. Even when I was six or seven years old, I didn’t just dream of racing in Formula 1, I wanted to compete for wins,” he said, adding that he never needed a backup plan. “In my mind, plan A would always work out. I simply couldn’t imagine a future where I wasn’t a Formula 1 driver,” he commented.
Lindblad also made a point of recognizing Rowland’s importance in his development: “He was probably the person who helped me the most, besides my family. He taught me a lot, not just as a driver but also as a person,” he said. Regarding the Red Bull environment, often described as rigorous, he preferred to highlight the positive side: “I thought those people believed in me and were helping me get to Formula 1,” he added. According to the young driver, if he didn’t meet expectations, the responsibility would be entirely his.
The most memorable moment of his career, however, happened already in Formula 1. Lindblad said that before the season-opening round in Melbourne, upon realizing he would finally start his first GP, he couldn’t hold back his emotion: “It was the moment I really realized, ‘I made it. I am a Formula 1 driver,'” he recalled. Despite achieving this goal, he assured that his ambition remains the same: to continue evolving in the category and fight for wins.
