Charles Leclerc will need to undergo new tests before being sure that he can compete in the next Formula 1 stage. The Ferrari driver suffered a severe accident at the Italian GP and does not yet have a guaranteed presence in the race in Madrid next weekend.

Leclerc lost control of his SF-26 at high speed in the Parabolica corner, at the end of the second lap, and crashed hard into the safety barrier. The accident caused the race to be stopped with a red flag and took the Monegasque to the medical center, from where he was released with no injuries detected.
Despite this, Leclerc revealed that he felt changes in his vision right after the accident: “The neck was fine, it was just the vision a little at the beginning. The right eye was not giving me very good vision, but now everything is fine,” he said.
The Monegasque driver also reported some body aches after the impact but considered the situation compatible with an accident of that intensity: “After that, everything, a little pain here and there, which is normal after an accident like that, so nothing more,” he said.

Still, Leclerc emphasized that he will undergo further evaluations before the Madrid stage: “I think I will still have some additional checks that we need to do, probably tonight and tomorrow, to make sure I will be fully fine for Madrid. It should be the case, but it’s better to be safe than sorry,” he concluded.
About the cause of the loss of control, Leclerc pointed to a possible ‘difference in power delivery,’ but avoided drawing conclusions before analyzing the data. Frustrated with the accident, the driver said he now needs to leave the episode behind and seek a recovery in the next stage.
