Charles Leclerc ended a 38-race winless streak by winning the British GP, but made it clear that the result does not change his approach for the rest of the Formula 1 season. The Ferrari driver stated that he still needs to regain confidence with the car and assured that he does not consider the problems overcome.

The triumph at Silverstone was the ninth of the Monegasque’s career, equaling Rubens Barrichello in eighth place on the list of Ferrari’s greatest winners in history. The victory also marked the team’s 250th win in Formula 1 and took place on the same circuit where Ferrari won its first GP, in 1951.
Leclerc explained that the current generation cars require a very different driving style from what drivers were used to. According to him, this made his adaptation throughout the season difficult. “These cars are very specific and very different from the way we have been driving since we started racing. Therefore, it takes a little more time to adapt,” he said.

“I was very strong in the first part of the season, then I lost the feeling with the car a bit. We changed several things and it took longer than I would have liked to get back to the level I wanted. Also, we had some problems on Sundays that cost me many points,” he explained.
Despite the relief from the result at Silverstone, Leclerc emphasized that he intends to keep his feet on the ground. “I am very happy to get out of this situation this way. However, this is just the beginning. It was just one race and I cannot let myself think the war is over. I have faced many difficulties with this car and I cannot consider all of this behind me. I will continue working to find that confidence more often in the next races,” he concluded.
