Formula 1 saw Honda indicate a new direction for Aston Martin after an important breakthrough at the Japanese GP. Even with a discreet result, the team completed a race for the first time in 2026, which was considered a relevant milestone for the project’s development.

This progress, however, does not end the challenges. The focus now shifts to the definitive solution for the vibration problems that still affect the AMR26, an issue that continues to limit the team’s performance this season.
After the race in Suzuka, Honda president Koji Watanabe highlighted that the priority is to attack the source of the problem. According to him, the measures adopted so far are only provisional and do not completely solve the situation: “We will solve the vibration problem at its root. For now, this is a temporary solution. We are taking provisional measures to avoid damage to the battery. However, we need to correct this in cooperation with the chassis, so we will move forward as a team,” Watanabe stated.
The executive also explained that Honda intends to improve the car’s energy management and drivability. The goal is to arrive more competitive for the next stage of the season, scheduled for the Miami GP: “We want to improve the precision of our energy management and enhance drivability, and have the best possible performance to face the next race in Miami,” the executive stated.

In Japan, Aston Martin managed to complete the full race distance for the first time this season with Fernando Alonso, who finished in 18th position. The result represented a small step forward after a start to the year marked by technical difficulties.
On the other hand, his teammate Lance Stroll did not have the same luck and had to retire from the race after facing a technical problem. The contrast reinforces the work still needed to improve the reliability of the package.
With the goal now set on the Miami GP, Honda and Aston Martin seek to transform the progress from Suzuka into more consistent performance. The expectation is that the solutions under development will allow for a more significant leap in the upcoming races of the 2026 Formula 1 season.
