James Hinchcliffe assessed the current situation of Red Bull in Formula 1, indicating how the Austrian team went from a scarce base of drivers to having an excess of young talents.

During a conversation on the F1 Nation podcast alongside Jolyon Palmer and Tom Clarkson, the former Indy driver pointed out not only how Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad have been performing well in Racing Bulls but also how Isack Hadjar has not been doing badly compared to Max Verstappen. Not only that, junior driver Nikola Tsolov has been dominating in Formula 2, which could bring a headache for the coming years.
“There are only 22 spots, right? You can’t just assume that the F2 champion will be promoted. I find that very curious, because if we go back 12 months, Red Bull was without drivers,” said the Canadian.

“We were trying to understand how they would fill the spots, who would take the second seat at Red Bull, who would go where. Thank God Lindblad was in F2 last year and is showing this performance. But there was a moment when they had exhausted all options, and we thought: ‘Wow, their talent pool is no longer as strong as it used to be’,” he continued.
“And now, suddenly, they have too many drivers performing well: Hadjar is doing a great job alongside Max, the two Racing Bulls drivers are doing well, and there is one of their young talents in a good position to maybe win the F2 championship,” he concluded.
