Lewis Hamilton completed two days of scheduled testing with Pirelli in Fiorano. The Ferrari Formula 1 driver faced wet conditions to help the tire supplier gather data.

After the cancellation of the races in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, the category has the month of April ‘free’ of rounds. Therefore, the month is providing a series of testing opportunities for the teams, as well as for the Italian company.
Red Bull and Racing Bulls have already done two days of activities right after the Japanese GP, also in wet conditions.
Now, in Italy, the seven-time Formula 1 champion drove on Ferrari’s private track, which features an irrigation system that allows the asphalt to be wetted to recreate specific testing conditions.

In a statement, Pirelli explained what Hamilton accomplished during the two days of activities. “The first tires to be tested were the extreme wet prototypes, including a new tread design already tested last week in Suzuka, with the aim of extending the operating range of the Cinturato wet track to also cover less intense rain conditions,” it wrote.
“From mid-afternoon until the end of the day, a variant of the intermediate Cinturato was installed, making it possible to evaluate the transition ranges between the rain products tested on the track,” it added.
On Friday, the seven-time champion completed 461 kilometers, the equivalent of 155 laps, with his best time in the 1min00s740 range. Over the two days, he completed 297 laps and a distance of 884 kilometers, with temperatures reaching 22ºC.
