Lewis Hamilton arrives at the Formula 1 Chinese GP with the ambition to fight for victory and reduce Mercedes’ advantage. The Briton, who will start in second, believes that Ferrari has evolved and can pressure their rivals.

Hamilton secured third place on the grid, behind Kimi Antonelli and George Russell, ensuring another Mercedes front-row lockout. Despite facing moments of oversteer during the qualifying session for the GP, the seven-time F1 champion was satisfied with the performance.
“It was a really difficult session. A bit more complicated today with the wind, which was very gusty, so putting together the perfect lap was a challenge. Charles (Leclerc) did great laps, these guys (Mercedes) too. So I’m very happy to be here and grateful to be with them,” commented Hamilton.
The British driver highlighted the work done by the team during the break between races, which allowed Ferrari to close in on the lead: “They have been very fast so far this season, but we did a good job. The engineers did a great job and we managed to get a bit closer to them, so that’s a really positive point,” he added.

Sunday’s race represents an opportunity for Hamilton to seek his first podium with Ferrari in a GP. Aware of the red cars’ quick start compared to Mercedes, he promises an intense battle from the first meters.
“It will continue to be a challenge, but I’m sure we’ll have fun. I’m looking forward to it. We learned a lot in the Sprint race. Let’s hope that tomorrow isn’t as windy as today, and our goal is to try to close the gap to these guys somehow,” concluded the seven-time champion.
