The situation worsens an already complicated weekend for the Frenchman, who had secured a top 10 position but saw his result threatened by irregularities in the car.
After qualifying ninth on the grid, Hadjar had already failed the technical inspection due to the RB22 floor, which exceeded the allowed limits by 2 mm. Now, the FIA has revealed a new possible infraction related to the power unit.
According to technical delegate Jo Bauer, the driver used a new energy store that exceeds the allowed limit for the season. “The unit used is the fourth of three allowed for the 2026 championship, which is not in compliance with the regulations,” he stated.

Additionally, the replacement of the electronic control unit also exceeded the permitted number. Bauer also highlighted that the changes were made without prior approval. “The power unit elements were replaced without authorization from the technical delegate, which violates article B3.5.3 b),” he explained.
The case was forwarded to the stewards, who will assess the situation and determine the possible penalty. If confirmed, Hadjar could face another significant grid penalty at the Miami GP.
