With 242 points, the Mercedes driver holds an advantage over teammate George Russell and Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton. The penalty occurred after the FIA’s second round of engine evaluations and is related to Mercedes’ upgrade possibilities, making the Italian race a recovery exercise for Antonelli.
If he needs to start at the back of the grid, which is likely, the Italian will have to change his weekend priority. Instead of focusing exclusively on pursuing pole position and victory, the strategy should consider overtaking, tire management, and patience to move up through the pack.

We are here to act in favor of a championship and not to get the maximum publicity,” said the Mercedes boss.
For the team, car setup will be crucial, as prioritizing speed on the straights can facilitate overtaking but also bring compromises in braking and chicanes.
