The FIA released the results of the first two ADUO system evaluations for the 2026 Formula 1 season, defining which power unit manufacturers will have additional development opportunities. The analysis placed Red Bull Powertrains-Ford as the efficiency benchmark in the new regulatory cycle.

The system was created to allow manufacturers further from the reference performance to have extra resources to close the gap. Red Bull Powertrains-Ford was considered the manufacturer with the most efficient engine, while Mercedes, Ferrari, Audi, and Honda received additional benefits according to their respective deficits.
Mercedes was more than 2% below the benchmark, and therefore, will be entitled to an extra update in 2026 and another in 2027. The manufacturer will also receive an additional US$ 3 million in the cost cap and 70 extra hours of bench testing.
Ferrari, Audi, and Honda were classified as more than 4% below the parameter set by the FIA. As a result, they will be entitled to a maximum of two updates in 2026 and another two in 2027.

The system also provides for progressive benefits as the difference to the benchmark increases. Manufacturers between 4% and 6% below receive US$ 4.65 million and 100 hours of testing, while those between 6% and 8% gain US$ 6.35 million and 150 hours. For a disadvantage between 8% and 10%, the benefit reaches US$ 8 million and 190 hours of testing.
The FIA did not reveal, however, the exact range in which Ferrari, Audi, and Honda were categorized. The last ADUO evaluation this season will cover the stages between the Dutch GP and the Mexico City GP, corresponding to rounds 12 to 18.
