Formula 1 is adapting to the new regulations introduced for the 2026 season. Due to changes in the sporting regulations, the premier category of motorsport sees the possibility of ‘canceling’ the parc fermé system if there is a possibility of rain between qualifying and the race.

Between the qualifying session and the race itself, teams are prohibited from touching their cars – if they do, they start from the pitlane. If there is a chance of precipitation, teams need to analyze the data in an attempt to get the settings right.
Now, however, there has been a change in Parc Fermé. If there is a risk of rain, the FIA has decided that two hours before qualifying, the Sprint, or the race, a risk of rain will be declared if the meteorological service issues a bulletin with a probability higher than 40% at any time during the Sprint or the GP.

Afterwards, teams will be able to change the settings to adapt the cars for possible wet track conditions, but this time without having to start from the pits.
However, not all components can be modified. Formula 1 teams received a document from the technical department of the governing body specifying the parts that can be modified – according to Motorsport.com, it would only be the ride height and wing incidence.
