Franco Colapinto is already thinking about the next steps after securing his stay at Alpine for the 2027 Formula 1 season. The Argentine driver stated that the priority now is to continue helping the team evolve.
Alpine confirmed last week that it will keep the same driver duo next year, with Colapinto alongside Pierre Gasly. The Argentine joined the team last season, replacing Jack Doohan a few races after the start of the championship.
After a difficult period for Alpine, the team managed to take a step forward in 2026 and is now regularly scoring points. Colapinto assessed that the collective evolution was important for his continuation and highlighted the relationship built with the team.

“Of course, I am very happy to continue, very, very happy and grateful to the team, which has done an incredible job since I started. Last year was complicated, this year we took a big step together as a team, and it is great to continue this journey together and keep working as a family next season,” said Colapinto.
The Argentine also indicated that Alpine intends to continue developing the current car, rather than stopping efforts to focus all resources on the next project. The team aims to finish in the top five of the championship for the first time since 2022, while Colapinto set an immediate goal before thinking about 2027: “Our goal is to finish as high as possible this year, and then of course, we want to take another step forward in 2027,” he added.
