George Russell won the Sprint of the 2026 Canadian GP after holding off pressure from Lando Norris and his teammate Kimi Antonelli in a race marked by aggressive battles and mistakes from the young Italian. Mercedes confirmed the strength shown since free practice, but Antonelli lost second place to Norris on the last lap after another overambitious overtaking attempt. Oscar Piastri and Charles Leclerc took advantage of Lewis Hamilton’s drop in performance in the final laps to overtake the Ferrari driver, while Max Verstappen finished only seventh. Gabriel Bortoleto had a difficult race after a very poor start with Audi, fell back in the pack in the first laps and originally finished 13th, but moved up to 12th after a penalty was applied to Sergio Pérez.
