Cadillac, which makes its Formula 1 debut in 2026, faced an impressive dilemma when recruiting the team for the new project. According to team principal Graeme Lowdon, the American automaker received no fewer than 143.265 applications for approximately 600 vacancies, which resulted in a ratio of 238 candidates for each available position.

With the support of automotive giant General Motors, owner of Cadillac, the company entered F1 with a team starting from scratch, unlike Audi, also a newcomer to the category this year, but which bought the now former Sauber team. Cadillac, with bases in Fishers, Indiana, and Silverstone, had to hire all its personnel, which generated a massive selection process.
Lowdon stated that, by the end of 2025, the team had opened 595 vacancies and, after a long screening process, with 9.051 selected resumes and 6.500 interviews conducted, they hired just over 520 people. He also highlighted the challenge of balancing operations across two continents, with the headquarters in Indianapolis and operations in Silverstone: “We are building everything except the power unit, the gearbox, the tires, and the ECU,” the official stated, highlighting the logistical effort involved in setting up the necessary infrastructure.

The big challenge, according to Lowdon, is Cadillac’s audacious ambition to not only enter Formula 1, but to do so with a complete team, and with all components designed in-house. He also emphasized that the team’s expansion in the United States will be crucial to the success of the project, which remains a massive and complex operational task.
