Max Verstappen’s future in Formula 1 has generated much speculation, especially after the Dutch driver expressed dissatisfaction with some changes in the category. However, Martin Brundle, former F1 driver and current commentator, believes that Verstappen will not continue in F1 for financial reasons, as ‘he has more money than God’. With a contract with Red Bull Racing until the end of the 2028 season, Verstappen has already shown that the increasing number of races and the introduction of more Sprint races are not factors that motivate him to continue.

At 28 years old, Verstappen is still far from the typical retirement age of a Formula 1 driver, but Brundle believes he will not remain in the category until he is 40: “Max is so easy to understand, so straightforward. He has already made it clear that he is not here for long periods. He is not chasing championship records,” the commentator stated.
The four-time F1 champion had already been linked to a possible departure from Red Bull, especially during a phase of irregular performance by the team in 2025. Although Brundle believes in the success of the new Red Bull Powertrains-Ford power unit, he suggested that Verstappen is looking at other opportunities: “I’m sure he has an exit route if he wants one,” Brundle concluded, citing Mercedes and Ferrari as teams Verstappen could look to for the future.

With a rare talent and the freedom to explore various options, Brundle believes that Verstappen is in a privileged position, being able to decide his future in Formula 1 according to his personal and professional preferences.
