Last month, the McLaren CEO wrote to the entity’s president, Mohammed Ben Sulayem, about the matter, using Red Bull and Racing Bulls as examples of his criticism. In the letter, he highlighted incidents he believes harm the integrity of the sport.

Now, in a message to fans, the executive once again called for independence between F1 teams and expressed confidence that the issue will be resolved. “We have an issue I’d like to address, and I’m sure you’ve already read about it. “But now that the sport is in a great phase and we have great financial stability among the teams, it’s time to move towards a state of true independence between them. With the exception of power units – which not all of them manufacture – teams must operate completely independently to ensure total fairness. When it comes to technical, financial, or governance issues, alliances can create confusion,” he continued.

“And, ultimately, I think you, our fans, want to know that all 22 drivers are competing against each other with the same intensity and that the same rules apply to all 11 teams. Liberty and the FIA have done an exceptional job developing our sport, we are thriving, so I am confident that this is an area we will now focus on and resolve,” he concluded.
