Gabriel Bortoleto advanced to the second phase of the Sprint qualifying for the Miami GP of Formula 1. On this Friday (1), the Brazilian went to SQ2 and will start in 11th place after setting a time of 1min29s992.

The Brazilian returns to the track in the Sprint race on Saturday, 2, at 1pm Brasília time.
SQ1
For this Sprint qualifying, the time was open, the sky was clear and very hot. The thermometer showed 30ºC while the asphalt reached around 52ºC.
For the timed session, competitors are required to use medium tires both in SQ1 and SQ2. In the first phase they have 12 minutes; 10 minutes in the second and 8 minutes in the final phase.
The clock started in Miami and the drivers were released from the pits. Bortoleto did not take long to leave the Audi garage for the installation lap and then start the flying lap.
With just under five minutes left in SQ1, Gabriel made his lap and placed seventh with a time of 1min30s725, almost 0.5s faster than teammate Nico Hülkenberg.

Approaching the end, the driver of car #5 dropped a few positions but managed to advance to the next phase of the Sprint qualifying in Miami.
SQ2
The second phase of the timed session started in the United States. At this moment, Gabriel was one of the first to leave the pits.
When he started his lap, the sectors showed that the Brazilian was fast. When he completed the lap, he placed third, just over 1s behind George Russell, the leader.
Gradually, the Audi driver dropped down the standings and with two minutes to the checkered flag, he was in the elimination zone occupying 11th place. At this moment, he was in the pits.
In his last attempt, Gabriel tried to improve his time but without success, he secured 11th place and did not advance to Q3. Nico Hülkenberg also did not advance and finished 12th.
