Gabriel Bortoleto finished the Monaco GP Formula 1 qualifying session disappointed. This Saturday (6), the Brazilian crashed in Q1 and will start only in 16th, taking the blame for taking an unnecessary risk.

Audi has shown good performance during the weekend in Monte Carlo, with the competitor having been in the top-10 in all free practices. In qualifying, at the end of the first phase, he was advancing to Q2 when he decided to try one last lap.
Upon exiting the tunnel, he hit the guard-rail and broke the suspension, damaging the car and not advancing to the next phase. Speaking with SporTV after the session, he admitted the error for having risked unnecessarily. “Look, it was a mistake. There’s not much to say. I made a mistake,” he began.

“I took an unnecessary risk”“And if I make a mistake like that in Q3 or Q2, trying a very good lap to get in, where you need to take a little more risk, but in Q1 there was no need. Our car is a top-10 car this weekend, we know we have an engine deficiency, but here in Monaco that ended up helping us because with few straights, our car can show a little more of its potential. I apologize to the team, everyone cheering too, because there was no need to take the risk I took in Q1,” he continued.
“I was very confident with the car, I was doing good laps and I ended up touching the inside wall by very little, but it ended up breaking the front suspension and my qualifying ended there,” he completed.
