Kimi Antonellli reviewed the Sprint qualifying of the Miami GP in Formula 1. On this Friday (1), the Mercedes driver admitted that he expected difficulties but celebrated the team’s good result.

The return of the 2026 season also brought numerous team updates with the new regulations. As a result, the pack seems closer and the differences between the leading teams have decreased.
Lando Norris is the one who will start from the Sprint pole position, while the Italian championship leader closes the front row. And speaking about qualifying, he talked about the difficulties of the day in Miami but showed optimism about Mercedes’ pace.
“We knew that this weekend we would face a battle. Most teams brought significant updates and we knew they would reduce the gap to us. That said, I think we did a great job recovering from a difficult day and securing second place for tomorrow’s Sprint,” he said.

“I had difficulties with the car on the medium tires, but the feeling was better with the softs. That gives me confidence that we can show more performance throughout the weekend,” he continued.
“We will need to work hard to unlock that speed. The Sprint gives us the chance to score some points and better understand our pace over long distances. We will need to take that into account when making adjustments for qualifying and, hopefully, prepare for a good Sunday,” he added.
