Kimi Antonelli joins the select group of winning drivers in Formula 1. In this Sunday’s (15) Chinese GP, the Italian dominated the race and crossed the finish line in first place, achieving his first victory in the category.

This is the young competitor’s second year on the grid. In 2025, in his debut championship, he managed to reach the podium three times, in the Canadian, São Paulo, and Las Vegas GPs, with second place at Interlagos being his best result so far.
Now, in 2026, he seems to be taking advantage of Mercedes’ good start to the season. He already began the year finishing second in the Australian GP and now, in Shanghai, he secured the top step of the podium, leading a one-two finish with George Russell in second.

With this, Antonelli, who also became the youngest pole-sitter in Formula 1 history at 19 years and 201 days, becomes the first new winner in the category since Oscar Piastri in 2024.
In that season, the Australian, in his second year in F1, secured victory in the Hungarian GP, the first of two that season – he also won in Azerbaijan. Since then, he has won seven more times.
