Formula 1 will have six weekends coinciding with Formula E in 2027, following the release of the next season’s calendar. The conflicts involve events in different parts of the world and will have distinct impacts according to time zones.

For Formula E, the next season will start on December 18, 2026, and will have 21 races in 11 countries, spread over 13 weekends. Of the 21 races, ten will take place on the same weekend as Formula 1 rounds, while six electric category events will directly coincide with F1 GPs.
The first conflict will occur on March 13, when the São Paulo E-Prix will be held on the same weekend as the Formula 1 season opener in Bahrain. The six-hour difference between the locations makes the clash manageable.
However, the most delicate scenario involves the Sanya round on April 17, which will be contested on the same weekend as the Chinese GP. Besides the geographical proximity, both events will take place in the same country, creating difficulties for teams, professionals, and the press, especially due to the need to travel between Shanghai and Sanya.

There will also be coincidences between the Monaco E-Prix and the Miami GP on May 1 and 2, between Zandvoort and the Portuguese GP on June 18 and 19, and between the Shanghai and Tokyo rounds and the Austrian and Belgian GPs, respectively. In Tokyo, one of FE’s night races, is expected to start only three hours before F1’s Q1 at Spa-Francorchamps and two hours before the Belgian GP.
Alberto Longo, co-founder and director of the Formula E championship, stated that conflicts are manageable when there are time zone or schedule differences. Regarding China, he highlighted that the calendars were approved by local authorities, the FIA, and the World Motor Sport Council, and said that two major events in the same country represent an additional opportunity for fans.
