Alpine acknowledged that they lacked pace to fight for a better result in the Formula 1 Hungarian GP. Both Pierre Gasly and Franco Colapinto highlighted that they struggled with the team’s performance.

The team’s Frenchman started from 12th position and, unable to challenge the opponents ahead, finished in the same position. “Looking at the final result, as a team, we weren’t close enough to fight for points and lacked the pace to compete with Racing Bulls or Audi cars,” he said.
“We tried something different and had some new sets of tires available, but even that didn’t make much difference in our race. We pushed as hard as we could, but that’s the reality of our current situation; there’s no escaping it, and the only way to solve it is by bringing more performance to the car. Sometimes, the feeling while driving isn’t the best, but you can still have pace and get a result; however, the current feeling in the car isn’t good, and the performance reflects that,” he continued.
“Fortunately, the summer break comes at a good time, which means fewer races where points are at stake and gaps can be opened. We know new parts are on the way and we hope the updates bring the performance we desire. Other teams have already shown that this is possible, and we need to follow the same path. It’s important that we make these improvements, and quickly; otherwise, our lives will be difficult if we want to regain fifth place in the championship,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, the Argentine also finished outside the points zone, still crossing the finish line in 15th after starting 13th alongside Gabriel Bortoleto. “It was a very challenging afternoon and, overall, we lacked a lot of pace. After the first three laps, I started to struggle with the car and, unfortunately, I never really managed to recover. Even with new tires, we were still very slow and far from the ideal pace; we need to understand why — perhaps we suffered some damage, as both the balance and grip were not good,” he pointed out,
“We will analyze this with the team. We go into the break knowing that we need to continue working hard. In the last races before today, we scored points, but we need to improve. Aston Martin has shown that it’s possible to make a big leap in performance, and we hope to do the same soon when we bring updates. I will stay in Hungary for a few more days to participate in the Pirelli test, but then I will go into the summer break to rest, so we can arrive in Zandvoort ready to restart,” he concluded.
